Time"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">4-24-16 through 4-28-16<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">After our rotation to Camps 1 and 2, we planned to take four full rest days to get back on our feet.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I really needed this time off\u2026coming down was tough for me, not only because I felt exhausted but also because my cough increased substantially.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>First night back at EBC was demoralizing and miserable, coughing up green plugs all night long, getting little real sleep.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The thought of trying for the summit seemed preposterous.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Fortunately, we have great expertise in our IMG guides.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>A multi-pronged attack on the cough has worked wonders!<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I almost feel back to my old self after several days of intensive treatment, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\">Rest to reduce the cough trigger of deep breathing;<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Staying in the tent as much as possible to shield my lungs from the withering dry cold wind;<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Always breathing through a buff;<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Minimizing talking and joking, even at meal time (this is tough);<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Lots of hot beverages, including some Throat Coat tea featuring Slippery Elm;<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Breathing in hot vapors (water, with or without liniment);<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Cepacol lozenges to numb the throat;<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Guaifenesin + dextromethorphan every 12 hours;<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Codeine 15mg by mouth every 6 hours if necessary (usually not, just at bedtime);<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Continuing twice-daily Advair Diskus;<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Albuterol MDI several times per day as needed for wheezing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\">The pain in my right chest is purely musculoskeletal, I must have strained an intercostal while coughing.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It is getting better.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">We stayed active, of course, including a hike to a local lookout\u2026<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2887\"
