Lots of fun here in Kathmandu, getting to know my awesome teammates and guides, and nailing down a few last logistics. Our kit is set, and we are planning to fly to Lukla tomorrow AM… if the weather allows. Biblical rainstorms today in the city, and reports of mixed snow and rain up high. This may be an issue tomorrow, because the flight is done by sight (VFR) not instrument. Thus, conditions must be perfect in order for us to fly out. No worries, we are certainly not in a rush at this point.
Kathmandu has changed a bit since I was last here in 1984… but just a bit. Still lots of raucous traffic, still bad air pollution, and still lots of warmth from the people.
Thanks for the update. Keep them coming. Love the photos. Kathmandu looks like a fascinating place. Fingers crossed that the weather clears up for your flight tomorrow. Xox
The electrical wires look like those in Karachi. It works, periodically, but it works.
That telephone poll looks like it was rigged by Time Warner cable.
Five words; Fire and Ice, beer, pizza….
Enjoy the adventure and always stay on the uphill side of the yak train.
